This is a service providing respite to parents and carers living in Enfield, allowing them the chance to visit friends, go shopping, or just relax during the day on a Saturday.
The service is based at the Opportunity Centre in Ponders End, but the users are rarely there!
The service runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers a wide range of activities for people between the ages of 18 and 65 years.
The service we provide to the adults that attend is for them to be able to make/meet their friends in a relaxing atmosphere without the restrictions that would normally apply to them at a day centre or college. We arrange trips out to local parks, shopping centres, cinema, the seaside, pub lunches and cafes. At the centre we have activities such as competitions (talent, karaoke, pool) and quizzes including Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Deal or No Deal. We also have 'cook for lunch' sessions as well as music and video days. These activities are chosen by the young adults that attend the service.
We're hoping to extend this service to Sunday, but that's still in the future.
